THE HINDU BUSINESS LINE Thursday, March 8, 2000 HP India Ties up with 3dMaxMedia. Chennai, March 8, 2000 : The US-based 3dMaxMedia is to invest in excess of $5 million in its India centre that will develope 3D content based on computer animation. The center will take shape in a couple of months. The company has formed an alliance with Hewlett-Packard India (HPI) to jointly work ina reas of 3D animation content creation, content distribution and transactions on the Net. The arrangement will include joint marketing and promotional activities. To fund its Indian initiatives 3dMaxMedia is in talks with
strategic investors. Mr. Srini Vasan, President, 3dMaxMedia, did not
rule out the possibility of an initial public offering in the India
Market. Addressing the press to announce the HPI Alliance, Mr. Vasan
said: “We are in talks with three State governments in South India to
decide on the location of our center that will include production facilities
and back end development.” Besides delivering 3D content for the American and European
markets, 3dMaxMedia will also develop content for India, Japan and China.
Mr. Vasan said that it would use Singapore as the regional hub to address
the Asian Markets outside of India. “We are also in the process of appointing
a global firm to identify strategic media companies and portals as potential
partners for different markets.” He added. The company has also struck a strategic alliance with city-based
PentaMedia Graphics. According to Mr. Vasan: “PentaMedia has a proven
track record in this line. There is enough business in the market for
the two of us to work together.” The partnership with HPI is based on the Visualize Graphics
Platform and e-Speak, Hewlett-Packard’s free software. HPI is to aid
the 3D developer in jointly promoting and marketing its products. According to Mr. Ganesh Ayyar, President, HPI, “The four areas
that we will jointly address are: Content creation technologies, content,
content delivery and commercial completion. Mr. Ayyar also added that the two companies would facilitate
the creating of an ecosystem consisting of both business-to-business
and business-to-consumer players. “this
framework would help enterprises to build their business around real-time
interactive 3D customer experience”, he said. Mr. Vasan said: “3DmaxMedia will deliver Web 3D animation products
and services that will focus on media and e-commerce.” This would include Global 3D Music Launchpad:
