Wood has been associated with emerging technology companies for the
majority of his career, with broad experience in personal computers,
wireless telecommunications, on-line services, and interactive television.
Wood
began his career in 1976 as a software engineer and General Manager
at Microsoft - the company's sixth employee. After four years at Microsoft,
Wood joined Datapoint Corporation to manage the PC software organization.
In 1985, he moved back to Seattle to rejoin Paul Allen and help start
up Asymetrix Corp., serving in several executive roles including VP
Marketing, VP Marketing and Development, VP Marketing and Sales, and
VP Business Development. In 1991, Wood founded two new companies for
Paul Allen: Interval Research, for which he served as Vice-Chairman;
and StarWay Corporation, for which he was President Wood
is currently CEO of Wireless Services Corporation, a company he founded
with Notable Technologies' management team to buy out the core technology
and subscriber base from Notable Technologies. Wireless Services provides
mobile message management services to telecommunications carriers, large
corporations, and Internet service providers. Wood serves on the board of directors of Telescan, Inc., a publicly traded on-line services company based in Houston, Texas, and is a board member of Trilux Internet Group, a New York corporation which provides e-commerce services internationally.
